Three Day Fly Fishing Trip Suggestions
If you are starting from Boise and have two or three days to fish, I would
recommend fishing the South Fork of the Boise River for the first day. Drive to
Ketchum and spend the night.
Spend the next day fishing the Big Wood River between Hailey and Ketchum. If you are
feeling energetic, and plan to fish Silver Creek in the morning, you may want to check
out Silver Creek the day before. It's about 40 miles from Ketchum. Silver Creek is
difficult to access, so you might want to spend some time scouting before the real
thing. It's also helpful to visit the local Ketchum fly shops for pointers before you
go.
On the third day, I would suggest fishing Silver Creek in the morning. You should now
have your bearings on the area. Spend the evening fishing your favorite of the previously
mentioned rivers.
If you are booking your rooms ahead of time, it may be wise to book
a room in Mountain Home for your third night since it is somewhat central to all three
rivers and will allow you to get up and head for the airport in the morning without too
much driving.
